Are surgical hair transplants really worth it and what are the alternatives?

October 11th, 2012 by

When you’re looking for hair loss solutions, it’s easy to hope for a miracle cure that will return your hair to what it used to be. While the miracle cure may not exist, technology has created many new solutions that will help you to look great and regain your confidence. Just beginning to thin or conventionally bald, when you contact New Image Consultants, you will be given expert advice on how these breakthroughs can be used to maintain/restore that natural looking head of hair.

If you want hair that grows you’ll need to consider the various surgical options of Hair transplanting but you also need to be aware of the limitations and long term implications. Quite simply, surgical transplants cannot cure hair loss.

Transplanting in it’s various forms does exactly what it says, it relocates hair follicles (hair roots) from the dense back and sides to the thinning areas in the crown, top and front, but new hair is not regenerated where the follicles have been taken from. Thinning in the original loss area is likely to continue and in the long term, again the only hair likely to be left in this area will be the small amount which has been transplanted. Think about it, it’s simple maths, because it doesn’t regenerate!

If you prefer to avoid the pain, long recovery/re-growth times and the long term continued thinning of coverage associated with surgery, hair replacement may be best for you. Unlike surgery, hair replacement adds to your existing hair and is a reliable way to recreate the look and feel of your original hair without invasive surgery. The replacement process creates a true, natural level of density, something which cannot be achieved with surgical transplanting. Natural and synthetic hairs are chosen based on your own natural hair colour and they are implanted into a ‘second skin’. This second skin is applied to your scalp, much like a contact lens is applied to the eye, and because it has been crafted uniquely for you, it blends seamlessly with your existing hair and gives you a completely natural looking hairline individually sculpted for you. It’s quick, painless and gives you a natural look without the delay associated with a transplant.

Hair replacement has another advantage over surgery. As we age, changes occur, hairline recessions go deeper and higher. Most of us will gradually begin to grey as we get older, and even the best head of hair thins to some degree. With Hair replacement ongoing changes can be made with no problem. You’ll receive ongoing service and support from New Image Consultants to make sure you remain happy and confident with your hair and your appearance.

It is a sad fact that hair loss will probably affect many of us at some point in our lives, yet balding still holds a social stigma in our society.

Top 5 reasons for non-surgical hair transplants

September 4th, 2012 by

Losing your hair can be difficult.

Most of us will have to face hair loss at some point in our lives, but it can often come much sooner than we had hoped.

Your hair says a lot about who you are as a person it’s a visual indication of your style, your fashion and your personality. This makes losing your hair particularly difficult, as it can alter the way people look at you and think about you as a person. This can have a drastic effect on your mood and on your confidence in social situations.

If you’re facing hair loss then there are options you can take to reduce the appearance of that hair loss. One of the most effective of these hair loss treatments are Non-Surgical Hair Transplants or NST.

Here are the top 5 reasons a non-surgical hair transplant could be for you:

Safe

Unlike surgical hair transplants the hair replacement systems from New Image are administered using a completely non-invasive procedure. A modern high-tech second skin is bonded seamlessly with the scalp and hair identical to your own are carefully implanted in the breathable, undetectable synthetic skin, leaving you with a totally natural looking head of hair. There is no medical or surgical risk so there is no chance of anything going wrong.

Painless

Because the procedure doesn’t involve any harsh medical or surgical procedures there is no pain or discomfort from the hair loss treatment. Instead hair coverage is improved easily and effectively in a comfortable and relaxing salon style environment.

Instant results

With a surgical hair transplant the invasive nature of the surgery not only causes pain and discomfort in the short-term but also potentially for a long period after the transplant is complete.

With scarring and tissue damage an inevitable consequence of surgical procedures, the unsightly damage can be seen for months until your hair begins to grow back, this generally can take six to nine months to achieve a reasonable coverage.

With non-surgical hair transplants the procedure can be completed in a matter of hours and gives you completely naturalistic and comprehensive hair coverage instantly. No waiting for hair to grow in. No scaring. No detection.

Completely natural appearance

By seamlessly adding further hair coverage with the fibres of your own hair, a nonsurgical hair transplant is undetectable from a 100% natural, healthy head of hair.

The expert procedures at New Image Clinics create the appearance of a full, healthy and thriving head of hair by using cutting edge techniques.

Cost

Surgical hair transplants can easily end up costing tens of thousands of pounds- an extortionate price for a procedure which will leave you scarred, with less hair for months, has no guarantees, and will not actually provide you with more hair (the procedure simply re-locates hair follicles from one area of the scalp to another).

Non-surgical hair transplants cost just a matter of hundreds of pounds and provide far better, faster and more naturalistic results.

Going Bald Young? We explain what can be done…

July 11th, 2012 by

Going bald is far from uncommon- it can happen to any of us at any age. Many people start going bald at 20, and some even start to lose their hair even before this.

One of the major factors contributing to hair loss in young men is the effect of a hormone related to testosterone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the primary contributing factor to male pattern baldness in males of all ages.

Before puberty males obviously do not produce testosterone- it is only as you develop through puberty and into adulthood when more and more dihydrotestosterone can be produced causing hair loss.

It is this relationship between the hormones testosterone and dihydrotestosterone which leads to young males- often who are particularly fit, active and masculine- losing their hair at a much younger age than their peers.

Do you find yourself thinking “I’m going bald young”? If so and it’s of concern to you then consider this advice on how to stop going bald young, and call the advisors here at New Image Clinics for expert advice and tips.

How To Stop Going Bald

Relax:

Stress and anxiety can seriously exacerbate hair loss. Try and avoid confrontation and get plenty of sleep to slow hair loss down.

Take care of your hair and scalp:

A clean head of hair is a healthy head of hair. Keep your hair clean and free from chemicals or products which could be damaging to your hair’s health.

Eat Healthy:

A balanced diet rich in vitamins (especially B and E) which is rich in protein and healthy oils can do wonders.

Consult an Expert:

An expert can help advise whether your hair loss is something to be concerned about or not. The New Image experts have decades of experience in assisting individuals suffering from hair loss of all kinds. They have seen it all, tried it all and developed hair restoration techniques which are unrivalled by other hair loss clinics. If you are concerned you are losing your hair, contact New Image today. The faster you take action, the better your chances of retaining a full and healthy head of hair.

I Am Losing My Hair, What Can I Do?

July 11th, 2012 by

Here at New Image Clinics we specialise in providing help and advice for a wide range of clients who are all experiencing hair loss. We help each and every one of them explore the options available, with the goal of restoring their hair via non-surgical means.

However we can only do half of the work. In conjunction with our hair loss treatments, read these tips on how to take care of your scalp and remaining hair.

Eat Healthy

Just general advice for good health but vital for taking care of your hair, pay attention to your eating habits. How healthy are they? Make sure you get your 5-a-day, as fruits and vegetables contain Vitamin B, Iron, Calcium and Zinc which are all essential for healthy hair growth. In addition, try to eat a protein rich diet (hair is partially made up of proteins) and drink a least a pint of water a day (as hair is one quarter water and carries vital minerals to the roots).

Iron and zinc are also very important for healthy hair – so take a lesson from Popeye’s book and try and eat plenty of leafy green vegetables.

Be Gentle

Think about the obvious things, like hair styles that pull the follicles taut – the roots will be torn out and, sooner or later, they’ll stop growing back all together. Hair styles such as cornrows and tight braids are especially notorious for this, and can cause traction alopecia and scarring on your scalp.

When washing your hair, rub it in gently and only use small amounts of shampoo, making sure to rinse thoroughly. Letting your hair dry naturally rather than rubbing it with a towel or blasting it with a scorching hair dryer is also much gentler, though if you’re short on time you can use the dryer on a cool setting or gently pat your hair dry with a towel.

Be Product-Savvy

Try not to give into the temptation to just pick up the nearest shampoo when you jump in the shower. Many modern shampoos contain a chemical called ‘sodium lauryl sulphate/sodium laureth sulphate’ and not only is it harsh on your hair, it has also been linked to cancer! Look for shampoos that contain the friendlier ‘sodium lauryl glucose’ or ‘sodium lauryl glucoside’.

You should also be on the lookout for ‘polysorbates’ which can react with the skin on your scalp and make your head itchy and uncomfortable.

Following these handy tips then you’ll make New Image Clinics job that much easier. Our expert advisors have been in the hair loss industry for decades, and draw upon this experience and knowledge on a daily basis to offer help and advice which is second to none.

Is There a Permanent Non-Surgical Hair Transplant?

March 20th, 0020 by

We’re often asked if there’s a good permanent solution to hair loss – preferably one which doesn’t involve surgery.

Most hair loss treatments are temporary in one way or another. Laser hair treatment, for example, stimulates blood flow in the scalp and can provide a temporary boost to hair growth, so if hair loss runs in the family and you’re beginning to notice regular loss, it’s ideal for slowing down the loss but it’s not a long-term solution and is best recommended as a stopgap treatment.

Even surgical hair transplants should be viewed as a short to mid-term measure as they cannot stop long term genetic hair loss, and that’s before considering the other issues which arise with the surgical option.

Instead, we recommend a process which will produce a permanent effect, given the proper maintenance.

Our Recommended Non-Surgical Hair Loss Remedy

If you’re looking for a long lasting solution to hair loss, we would recommend a hair replacement system which creates an undetectable ‘second skin’ and works in conjunction with your existing hair. Additional hairs which match your own are added hair by hair to provide a completely realistic appearance.

With proper maintenance, hair replacement systems provide a long-lasting full head of hair with none of the risks of surgical treatment, and yes you’ll find yourself regaining your natural confidence and leading a normal, full life.

If you’d like to know more, then please get in touch. We’re more than happy to explain how the process works and show you what it can do for you.

Absolute discretion is guaranteed.
